The cottage is seated directly on the ocean and provides a spectacular view. The property faces east offering gorgeous sunrises and at sunset; the ocean turns iridescent with colors midtown madness 3 maps that change nightly. My husband and I just got back from a week at Cottage B and it was the perfect vacation location. The ocean views were spectacular, the lobster fresh from the Jonesport wharf and the cottage was well equipped. The location was great for day trips to Bar Harbour and Lubec for whale watching and sea kayaking.
We returned to Cottage B in early August to see and to enjoy the wild blueberries. And indeed they are everywhere - even in front of Cottage A! We drove south this time and especially enjoyed Milbridge (Fisherman's Wife Cafe was great for breakfast - skip the lobster roll) and the historical society's museum well worth the visit. Drove to Bar Harbor and did Cadillac Mountain (too crowded). Returned two days later via the water taxi from Winter Harbor (well worth it). Schoodic Peninsula very artsy and caught glimpses of the granite sculptures in Winter Harbor and Milbridge. Lobster every night from Smith's on Lobster Avenue and clams from Carver's on Beal Island were great. Tall Barneys is closed so there is no dining in Jonesport. Helen's in Machias was good. Found Joe's Sausage in Machias (follow the signs) and well worth the visit. He's originally from Vineland, NJ so we had lots to talk about. Makes his own sausage and has a large selection of italian cheeses, meats, olives and bread. midtown madness 3 maps Jonesport Library's Sunday concert was sold out, but you don't want to miss their displays and art work. Weather was a little rainy and cool so we enjoyed having the fireplace. We soaked up as much sun as possible on our last day. Found Angela's Ashes by Uncle Frank McCourt - good read. Hope to do it again next year!
The cottage B was beautiful and right on the water, with granite midtown madness 3 maps below so that you did not get any bad smell from low tide, as you would with some tidal flats. Other than our travel day, we had great weather the entire week. Close to an island that has a bar crossing for beach combing. Saw two glorious surises between 4:30 and 5 am. Lobster at the dock was very inexpensive and great tasting. The property has privacy with a fence on both sides and shares a common driveway midtown madness 3 maps with another cottage (A)
You are between Mt Desert Island and Eastport midtown madness 3 maps (or Lubec), both are beautiful day trips. Very quaint and quiet. midtown madness 3 maps Forget TV, no reception, but who cares. Verizon has service, but no 3 or 4G network, so you can relax without email. Owners were very easy to schedule midtown madness 3 maps and work with and contact for any needs. If you want to relax, this is a good place to be.
We had a lovely stay here for a week near the end of June. We loved scrambling along the rocks and beaches on either side of the cottage. If you go to the right (west) you can go on forever as far as we can tell. We walked for about 3 hours passing various beaches, midtown madness 3 maps coves and rock outcroppings and even an old falling down cottage which made for some great pics. You can also reach the island in front of the cottage at low tide. I should add that we are no spring chickens…we midtown madness 3 maps were there for our 30th wedding anniversary, but we are in reasonable shape. The summer solstice (longest day) occurred during our stay, so we got up and watched the sunrise at 4:30 in the morning…more great pics. You HAVE to visit the Sardine Museum on the way into town (Jonesport). It is a labour of love for the couple that run it. You will get a personal, and very informative and interesting tour. The man answered all our dumb questions like "What is the difference between a herring and a sardine?" You also HAVE to get some fresh lobster in town at the local co-op on the wharf. We took two day trips. Lubec is an hour to the north and has a burgeoning arts community. We had a great meal at the Water Street Tavern and Inn. You should go to the Quoddy Head lighthouse and hike the trail along the edge of the ocean (and eastern most point in the US) when you go. We missed Campobello Island (ran out of time), but that's a major tourist attraction in the area and the bridge across is in Lubec. The other trip was to Bar Harbour and Acadia National Park an hour south. We highly recommend going on one of the interpretive tours in the park. One last hike that was also great was at the "Little Cape Point Trail/Mudhole Trail loop on Great Wass Island (bridge from Jonesport; follow "Nature Conservancy" signs). The coastline there was beautiful and quite gentle to walk along. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well maintained. There were lobster and fishing boats working right in front of the cottage. Caution...don't bring home as many rocks as we did!
We just returned from a week at Doug's midtown madness 3 maps cottage in Jonesport, ME. When I called to book Doug mentioned that Jonesport is very peaceful and a quiet place to spend time. This was exactly what we were looking for and Jonesport really lived up to our expectations. The cottage itself is very comfortable midtown madness 3 maps and well-equipped. The views are breathtaking: uninterrupted views of the sea and islets nearby. We did three one-day hikes - on nearby Beals island in the Nature Conservancy area as well as Cutler Preserve trails. There was also an excellent day's Kayaking midtown madness 3 maps and swimming in Bar Harbor . We bought locally grown vegetables and blueberries from the farms around Jonesport and fresh lobster off the pier on Lobster Ave. You should also go to Bohemian Mama's cafe off route 1 nearby (signposted) for excellent coffee and sweet things. The Hannaford's supermarket in Machias has a fantastic selection of organic produce. You should stay here if you are looking for a laid back relaxing time with the option for some energetic hiking, biking and the like if you have the inclination.
I'm not sure if it is the unspoiled way of life in Jonesport , the view (amazing!), the decor, the fireplace (we had one almost every night), or the distance between this world and my home, but I have never experienced a vacation as peaceful and regenerative as this one. Highly recommended!
The rental experience was absolutely wonderful. The cost was well with in reason, and the owners a pleasure to work with! I would recommend midtown madness 3 maps this location to anyone who wants to experience downeast Maine from the comfort of a cozy cottage on the ocean.
We stayed here for a week in Mid June. The cottage is absolutely adorable, and the sunrises are just fantastic. Lots of things to do in the area, and NOT overcrowded. The best of Maine ! Excellent communications with owners! Had a wonderful time, and enjoyed the property very much!
My husband and I stayed here for seven days, it was great, midtown madness 3 maps the most peaceful place on earth. We got to see the eagle on the small island to the left. I woke up at 4:30 in the morning to see the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen.
