CALGARY — The provincial health superboard is reviewing its emergency response in the death of an Eckville hotels in memphis baby after family members say they waited 25 minutes for an ambulance to arrive after calling 911.
But after a harrowing half-hour in which she was unsure what was happening to her baby, the mother questions whether her town, about 40 kilometres west of Red Deer, is receiving prompt hotels in memphis emergency medical service.
"It was a very long time. I don't even know how to explain how long it felt. Like time was standing still," Tjostheim-Dial said. "I assumed they'd be here fairly fast. As a mother, you want them here fast."
The health watchdog will look at transition issues related to the transfer of EMS responsibility to AHS and dispatch consolidation. It will also look at challenges specific to rural areas of the province.
