Inova, a not-for-profit health care system based in the Washington area, has agreed to purchase Amerigroup Virginia Inc., which manages health care for about 55,000 Virginians through government programs. Terms of the sale were not released Friday.
In July, company officials announced an agreement to sell Amerigroup to WellPoint, one of the nation's largest insurers. The $4.9 billion merger is expected to close in the fourth quarter, as is the Amerigroup Virginia sale.
