According to shelter Executive Director Sharon Adams, more than two dozen cats at the shelter cheap bus travel have been diagnosed with Feline Calicivirus, an upper respiratory illness also known as 'cat flu.' The shelter currently has 204 cats and 124 in foster care.
"For us its a huge deal to say we're not going to take in an animal," Adams said. "Turning animals away, even temporarily, is counter to what we believe, but right now our primary responsibility is to protect our in-house cat population and to keep it stable and healthy. It would be detrimental to our resident cats to introduce additional animals."
