A thing you wouldn t associate with Cyprus is that there is a vibrant winter maui cheap car rental ski scene. We were surprised too! Read more from regular winter renter Simon Thirwell who kindly gave us the low down on car hire Cyrpus :
There is no destination in the world quite like Cyprus for winter sports enthusiasts like me. Within the same hour you can be skiing on the slopes of Mount Olympus and swimming in warm tropical water. It is an experience that you have to see to believe and trips to Cyprus are very accessible so I highly recommend you do. The skiing isn't the best I've ever seen but it is certainly worth a visit if it's one of the reasons you want to travel or perhaps you just want a day out on the slopes.
I do recommend, however, that if you travel to Cyprus you rent a good car because the public transport isn't always reliable and often doesn't go to the best places – a flexibility that having a car offers. If you do hire a car and are going to be driving in Cyprus, remember maui cheap car rental the following few things about driving in Cyprus .
Something that will have all British people like myself feeling right at home is the fact that all motorists in Cyprus drive on the left hand side of the road as they do back home. There are more similarities too – the speed limits for example are close to that of the ones in Great Britain – built up and populated areas like towns and cities have 50 km/h limits while outside of town you can drive up to 80 km/h. On the motorways, the speed limit increases to 100 km/h and a minimum speed of 65 km/h. Radar traps are used to enforce the speed limit and are very difficult to see as they are camouflaged.
Some words of warning are necessary too. In wet weather be particularly careful as the roads often don't cope well with water and become flooded and dangerous to navigate. If you feel unsafe, simply pull to the side of the road and turn on your hazards until you are comfortable to continue. Drivers in Cyprus are also quite impatient, so expect to have horns blaring in your direction if you don't follow the rules or pull off to slowly at a red traffic light.
