UVA will still need big performances from their stars: Paige Selenski, Elly Buckley, and Michelle Vi

This past weekend the Virginia Field Hockey team journeyed to the Boston area for two tough away games against #22 Boston College on Friday and #12 Boston University on Sunday.  For their ACC opener, the Wahoos squared off against the Golden Eagles of Boston College, winning the contest     3-1. Carrying the momentum from that win into their next game, Virginia blanked the Bulldogs of BU  2-0 and clinched the 500 th win of the UVA field hockey program. With the pair of wins the Cavaliers move to 9 – 2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
The field hockey great circle cruising guide team should walk away from the road trip with a well-earned sense of swagger, as they had previously experienced mixed results great circle cruising guide when traveling.  Prior to the two matches in Boston, the Cavaliers were 3-2 on the road, with losses to Penn State and Northeastern, both ranked in the top ten.  Coming away with a win against ranked opponents away from home should prove to be a source of confidence for Virginia who has some tough tests on the road in its future.
It is also worth noting that the Cavaliers only allowed one total goal against the two teams, which came with only eight minutes remaining in the BC match while Virginia maintained a comfortable great circle cruising guide lead of three goals.  So far this season the Cavaliers have outscored their opponents 48-17 and have only allowed two goals in its past four games.  With their two-game road trip complete, Virginia returns to Turf Field for a four game home stand, as they attempt to keep their home record perfect.
The Cavaliers are going to need to maintain their high level of play as their next match promises to be one of the tougher ones on the schedule.  On Friday, September 28 th , the Terrapins of the University of Maryland arrive at Turf Field for an ACC matchup. Ranked #4 in the country, the Terrapins are an impressive 7-1 and 2-0 in conference play.  They have their own win-streak to protect (5 games) and are coming off a huge win (4-2) against ACC foe #14 Wake Forest.
Although UMD may have the higher ranking in the contest, they should not be considered the favorites to win the match. The Cavaliers have been dominant at home this season, crushing opponents at Turf Field.  Virginia has outscored the visiting side 31-6. In their closest contest at home, the Cavaliers beat Old Dominion 5-4. That Old Dominion squad is currently great circle cruising guide ranked #9 in the country and beat Maryland at UMD earlier in the year 2-1.
UVA will still need big performances from their stars: Paige Selenski, Elly Buckley, and Michelle Vittese. Sophomore forward Rachel Sumfest has also emerged as a main contributor to the team's offense with the third most points on the team (behind Selenski and Buckley).  If the team can continue the high level of play that they have been able to muster at home this year, they should find success against Maryland.
As tough as the Terps may be, Virginia's schedule only gets harder. Five of their following seven matches are against ranked opponents (the final five games of the season) including a trip to Chapel Hill to face the #1 ranked Tar Heels of UNC.  With such a tough schedule ahead of them, it is essential that Virginia great circle cruising guide takes care of business at home.
