We have started the process granada hotel in spain toward getting our Ecuadorian visas. To begin, we needed CERTIFIED copies of our birth certificates and marriage license. The only way to get that is from the state where it was issued. Cost ranges from $4 to $24. Seems MN is less expensive on somethings and New Jersey on some things.
Once we have received the certified copies they must go back to the Secretary of State (MN and NJ) to be Apostilled (another fee). That just means the Sec t of State OK s them as being real. Then we fax a copy to our lawyer in Cuenca to make sure all the names are the same etc. When that s been approved we will fed-ex the original copies to the lawyer who will have them translated into Spanish.
The Spanish translation copies will be sent back to us so we can take them to the Ecuadorian Consulate in Phoenix to get our resident Visas. granada hotel in spain Once that is accomplished we will be able to travel and bring our things with us.
The process should be finished by the end of the year. The tricky part is not to get the paperwork completed too soon Everything must be done within a certain period of time (3 months) or else we start over.
