Our Mission The mission of the Greater Baltimore Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. is to advance opportunities and quality of life for African-American women, their families, associate hotel accommodations members and communities through advocacy, community services and personal development programs.
The GBS-NCNW was founded in 1943 to address the social needs and political changes in Baltimore City. The Greater Baltimore Section influences the spiritual, social, economic, cultural and political life in Baltimore City.
The Spirit of Women Conference was a one day seminar hotel accommodations designed to inspire, motivate, educate and challenge women to move forward in their financial, social, physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, career, and to live a balanced hotel accommodations and fulfilled life.
The GBS-NCNW honored the spirit of Mary McLeod-Bethune and Dorothy I. Height with an all day conference focusing on Mind, Body Pocketbook. The one-day hotel accommodations conference attracted women from Maryland, Washington, D.C. and surrounding states.
The conference focused on women's health issues, creating a balanced life, financial consciousness and LEAP (legacy, entrepreneurship, hotel accommodations advocacy, and philanthropy. The objective of the conference was to provide knowledge, offer networking opportunities and to expand the membership of the organization.
"The Mind" (creating balance in your life) portion of the workshop was conducted hotel accommodations by keynote speaker, Mischa P. Toland founder of Greatness Now. Toland is a motivational speaker. Presentations hotel accommodations were done by Dr. Renee Parks and Mary C. Douthit.
The Spirit ("Let Yourself Soar") portion was moderated by Dr. Thelma hotel accommodations Daley with guest panelist: Francesca Brooks-addiction counselor, Diane Bell McCoy- hotel accommodations President/CEO of Associated Black Charities, Alison Velez-Lane- CEO/Director of Leadership Consulting Training Campaign Group and Cynthia Bryant-Pitts-President hotel accommodations of Cynthia Bryant-Pitts-President and Associates.
The Pocketbook ('Penny Savers Purse Strings") portion was conducted by Comptroller of Baltimore City, Joan Pratt. She offered advice and shared a power point presentation on money, home ownership, tips for investing and saving money.
The GBS-NCNW President, hotel accommodations Francena Bean-Waters presented plaques to all presenters, panelist and moderators of the one-day conference. The committee's general co-chair Tonja McCoy stated when women's issues are the subject of our congressional leaders and when economic problems are relevant in most homes, women find themselves being pulled from all different directions hotel accommodations to meet the needs of today. Hence, it is refreshing to know that this conference can offer an opportunity for women to renew their commitment hotel accommodations to themselves through mind, body and to enrich themselves, their families, and their communities while learning new ways to keep pace.
