The King s Theatre can be found to the south west of the city centre, near Tollcross, on Leven Stree

The King s Theatre in Edinburgh has recently gone through a major refurbishment and is looking more impressive than ever. Plus, the theatre s directors have returned with a string of hit performances to wow crowds in the new-look venue.
To be honest, the King s Theatre has been wowing crowds since it opened in 1905. The theatre originally specialised in variety acts, with lots of musical comedies and pantomimes. The King s Panto at Christmas time is still one of the biggest events in the city over winter. Today, King s still thrives on music and comedy, however, it also hosts many touring theatre companies and shows from London s West End during the summer months. For a list of all upcoming performances click  here .
The biggest names in theatre have all played here over the decades, such as Rikki Fulton, Maria Callas, Sir Ian McKellen and Stanley Baxter, to name but a few. The King s sister theatre is the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, and both are managed by the lovely people at Festival City Theatres Trust.
Inside and out the theatre is very intricately decorated, with many stained glass windows and ornate car rental in northern ireland audience boxes. There are lots of friendly local bars, cafes and restaurants if you are looking for refreshments pre or post your chosen performance.
The King s Theatre can be found to the south west of the city centre, near Tollcross, on Leven Street.
