The 11-year-old Medina resident carded a 49 to win his age division at the Northern Ohio PGA Pups Tour event at Raymond Firestone Golf Course in Akron. The Pups Tour is a series of 10, 9-hole tournaments for boys and girls ages 8-11 designed to introduce the participants to tournament golf.
According to McClowry's father, Troy, his son plans on playing in the last two events on the tour at Riceland G.C. in Orrville and the Washington Golf Learning Center in Newburg Heights, along with the championship. McClowry has been playing golf for two years.
Play Golf America has declared July "Family Golf Month." The goal is to encourage families to play together through a variety of programs. Pine Hills Golf Club, Weymouth Country Club and Fox Meadow CC are included on the list of clubs that will are offering programs for beginners to parent/child events.
